Hello all!
You may remember my shelf turned desk project I did for Devon a while back.
I was so happy that a few folks used the idea. It really is a super easy desk solution.
But my little girl wanted a REAL desk and I was ready too since her papers and pens and stickers were everywhere because she didn’t have any drawers. And of course the fact that I hadn’t painted anything in a few weeks was causing me to twitch….
I found this baby on craigslist and had to scoop it right away.
Two reasons I knew this was the one for me:
It was right in my town- no traveling all over the world to get it AND I could send the hubs to pick up in his truck without too much protest.
AND
It’s measurements fit perfectly in the nook where the shelf desk was.
This sucker was S-O-L-D sold to the woman with a million paint brushes and nothing to paint.
I love the bones of this piece. In a sweet color I thought it would be so girly and feminine.
I bought a quart of olympic enamel paint with primer in “A Day at the Jewelers.”
It’s from Valspar’s Allen and Roth collection.
I chose this color because I am trying to transition my basement colors to grays and turquoise blues.
(Saving pennies for a new gray couch)
The desk top was super glossy to I did use an electric sander for that portion only.
I just used a liquid deglosser on the rest and my kills primer for glossy surfaces.
I’ve shown that step so many times I didn’t even take a photo.
I used oil rubbed bronze color spray paint for the original handles.
Here she is. So pretty.
All these projects later and I am still amazed at what a little paint can do!
My girl loves it!
What a nice fit!
That’s all for now friends. Next post is a cool one that cost zero dollars…..
Stay tuned!
xx
Suzanne
